Are people really complaining about NBC broadcasting Olympic coverage at a reasonable hour?

Knowing the outcome of an event before you see it really can take all of the fun out of that event but what good is it if said event would otherwise be broadcast while I’m at work?  Or asleep?  Furthermore, we are mostly in charge of what information we consume.  It’s not always possible to keep certain facts at bay.  A friend blurting something out, a piece of scrolling news read before you now what it’s about, even an innocent scroll through Tumblr that leads your eyes onto details you were hoping to avoid.  Sometimes it can’t be helped.

On the other hand, I’m in charge of whether or not I visit sports news web sites or watch sports television.  I’m in charge of whether or not I get related updates.  And I’m aware that if the events weren’t tape delayed a lot of people (and yeah, probably the same people) would be complaining about NBC airing the events at an hour which makes it difficult for Americans to watch.

Give me a break.
