The Amazing Spider-Man to tie in with Venom spin-off?

The Amazing Spider-Man might have a villain of its own in the shape of The Lizard, but according to producer Matt Tolmach, the film will also share a thread of continuity with Sony’s other big Spidey project, the upcoming spin-off for Venom…

“It’s an Eddie Brock story,” says Arad.  “We want to be as close to the comics as possible, especially in Eddie Brock’s story.”

I doubt that.  I’d love to see it, but I doubt it.

Josh Trank to direct Spider-Man spin-off?

Venom, the long-awaited Spider-Man spin-off, looks to be moving forward with Sony apparently tapping up Chronicle’s Josh Trank to occupy the director’s chair…

The 90’s saw a spate of Venom comics that never quite amounted to anything more than entertaining reads for people already interested in Spider-man or Venom in particular.  As one of those people who really like the McFarlene Venom from the late 80’s-ealry 90’s I’d love to see a similarly toned Venom movie but I don’t know how it could reach an audience of people not just like me.  And I don’t think that’s many people.
